China fights war sometimes differently. In the 1969 Indo-China war, the Chinese defeated the Indian soldiers and captured some areas but then retreated to their original position and gave back the captured weapons after polishing them. This move baffled many; why would it give back the territories it claimed were Chinese? That is why many in Asia think there is a non-western way of doing IR, maybe an Asian IR, which is different from European IR. Many Indian IR theorists also assert that there is an Indian way of doing IR, and it does not include allying oneself with this or that power. Of course, we have to wait for how China and India behave with each other and other countries worldwide once they grow stronger. Russia is a European country and it does what realist theorists of IR like John Mershiemere explain cogently.
