One benefit of living in different countries is seeing common trends. Growing up in Afghanistan and living in India for ten years, I can safely conclude that bigots and extremists are way too similar than they admit. For instance, Iran has a morality police named Gasht Irshad; they go around and harass the females. The Taliban has an even more extreme form of moral policing called Amr-e ba Maruf and Nahi-e anel munkar, which does the same thing. After the Hindu extremist won the election in UP in India, they created something called Anti-Romeo Squads. It beats up girls and boys who hold hands.

All three would call themselves better and hate each other. The Taliban calls Iran theocracy, not proper Muslim; the Iranian clergies call the Taliban the same thing. The RSS in India hates both Iranian clergies and the Taliban; this feeling is reciprocated by the latter two. All three, however, agree that females should be controlled. LGBTQ and trans are criminals; in India, it is less extreme. This may be the case among the Conservatives in North America. They can turn those countries like Iran and Afghanistan if they are not resisted.

I scout Afghanistan media for stories about women that deserve wider attention. Whatever I earn on Medium, 50% will be donated to educating children in Afg.
