Taliban morality police mistreatment of girls: They asked me to pull up my skirt, so they could see if I wore jeans

Following the August 15, 2021, takeover of Afghanistan, the Taliban banned girls from higher education, but private tuition centers remained open until last December when the Taliban’s total ban on women’s education came. Rukhshana Media published accounts of severe mistreatment of girls by the Taliban morality police at the private education centers, some of which are as follows.

At 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, six Taliban morality police visited the Spuzhmai’s classroom at a tuition center. That was the last day she went to the English language training center. According to Spuzhmai, the Taliban’s treatment of female students for not wearing the Taliban’s preferred Islamic hijab was inhumane, “the Taliban came to the center and asked the girls to pull up their skirts so they could see if the girls were wearing tight genes under their skirts.
